This website has been designed to tell you about the practice and the services
that we offer. Please read it carefully. We trust that you will find it helpful
and informative.
WELCOME TO THE PRACTICE
The
Abingdon Medical Practice is situated beside Pembroke Square in the ward of Abingdon
close to Kensington High Street. Our surgery is located on the ground and first
floors of the building. It is designed to allow ease of access for all and a lift
is available for those who are unable to use the stairs. We regret that there
are no parking facilities at the surgery.
The practice works in conjunction with the Kensington and Chelsea Primary Care Trust (PCT) who manage the provision of NHS general practice services within the area. We are also available to see patients on a private basis - consultation fees available on request.
Practice News and Notices
The Abingdon Old Newsletters and reports will also available in full at www.abingdonmedical.co.uk where you can sign up to have them emailed to you or to have access to EMIS web booking. The Spring 2012 newsletter will be out in April 2012. Below is the latest Patient Forum action plan together with the Winter 2011 newsletter.
ABINGDON MEDICAL PRACTICE SPRING NEWSLETTER 2012
STAFF NEWS
We would like to welcome Dr Navjoyt Ladher to our team as the new registrar. She has worked at Chelsea and Westminster and Charing Cross Hospitals before, and will be working closely with Dr Kilduff. She is already out and about, introducing herself, and looks forward to meeting you all.
CAN’T GET AN APPOINTMENT – NOT ABLE TO CALL THE SURGERY?
Why not register for EMIS Access – this allows access to all our available medical appointments (excluding emergency appointments and those in the next 2 days where you will still need to ring the practice).
The EMIS access system also allows you to cancel any of your appointments you cannot make – so please make and cancel your own appointments.
A letter with registration information can be printed for you from Reception or if you have a secure email you can use the website to request an email with your registration information.
The initial registration letter gives our practice ID number (9521), your Access ID and a starting PIN number. You then use this information to register on the EMIS Access site and create a password. Once this has been done you are ready to go.
REPEAT MEDICATION
Please allow 2 working days before collecting your prescription. Please note we are unable to accept requests over the telephone so please do not ask. All requests must be in writing, either by hand, by fax or by email (abingdonmedical@nhs.net).
RINGING FOR RESULTS
Please avoid ringing for results first thing in the morning as the phones and staff are very busy with those ringing to obtain emergency appointments.
JOIN OUR PATIENT FORUM
A Big THANK YOU to those who are already members of the patient forum and give up their time to help us maintain our standards of care. We still need more members, if you would be interested in joining please let one of the Reception staff know.
The action plan agreed with the forum is now available on the website below.
The report on the survery you completed in 2011 was presented to the Patient Forum on Monday 10th October 2011 and the following action plan was agreed:-
- The telephone system remains a problem, to try and alleviate this we will put up a poster reminding patients not to ring for results first thing in the morning. The introduction of internet booking using EMIS access should also help the number of phone calls.
- The music has also received a mixed response and we will pilot soft classical music.
- Next year we will try to email the questionnaire to improve patient coverage.
- Opening on a Saturday remains a favourite option for extended hours. This year we will be having flu clinics on a Saturday as well.
- THe doctors try to maintain patient continuity of care but this can be a problem when patients are seen by our rotating Registrars. The Reception staff will check patients are happy with their Registrar and if they wish to change to one of the Partners for continuity.
- The idea of texting appointment reminders didn’t seem to be an issue as appointments missed give the GPs time for catching up on patient administration. This will be reviewed again next year.
- The website will be updated to use it for more interaction such as an on-line discussion forum or to register for emailed newsletters and online booking.
