Find out if there is a stop-smoking clinic near you
Enlist the help of your friends and family.
Avoid situations in which you used to reach for a cigarette.
If you need to, ease the withdrawal symptoms with nicotine patches, gum or ecigarettes.
Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products such as patches, gums, nasal sprays and inhalers are available from your local pharmacist, who can also advise you on their use as can our surgery nurse. There are also a number of free National help lines funded by the NHS where specialist counsellors can discuss the process of quitting smoking. There are also the new cigarettes that provide the nicotine without the tar.
Obesity is a serious health concern which increases the risks of many other health conditions, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, joint problems, mental health problems, and some cancers. There is also evidence to suggest that people living with Obesity are at higher risk of the more severe outcomes associated with COVID-19.

However, the initial prescription from your consultant should be taken to the chemist for dispensing in the normal way.
